unique什么意思

　　这个词属于“高级词”中最常用的一类，一定要熟练掌握。

　　表示“认出，识别出”：

　　I can distinguish them by their unique hats.

　　我能够通过他们独特的帽子认出他们来。（用distinguish表示这个任务有一定难度。)

　　那最常用的意思是“区别”:

　　It is important to distinguish between "money" and "cash".

　　区分开“钱”和“现金”是很重要的。(distinguish between A and B)

　　Can you distinguish the different musical instruments playing now

　　你能区分出正在演奏的各种不同的乐器吗？

　　还可以表示“区别于，使与众不同”:

　　Thinking distinguishes man from the other animals.

　　思考使人类区别于其他动物。(这里用了 from。)

　　The girl distinguished herself by her academic excellence.

　　这个女孩因为学习成绩优秀而显得突出。(distinguish oneself:扬名，显得突出）

　　还是那个diver，后面加了个t(谐音，“踢”)——要是在diver(跳水）的时候被

　　踢上一脚，那么肯定会“晕头转向”了。

　　这个词的基本意思是个“变”字。

　　当动词，表示“使…转向”：

　　The farmers diverted the river to supply water to the rice fields.

　　农民们让河流改道，以便向稻田里供水。(这是方向的改变。)

　　Since there was a traffic jam in the main road, the cars were forced to divert to another road.
